Sensitivity and resolution of the level sensor

Information

The sensitivity of the liquid level sensor refers to the ratio of delta Y to delta X of output change of the liquid level sensor under steady state operation. It's the slope of the output-input characteristic curve. If there is a linear relationship between the output and input of the liquid level sensor, the sensitivity S is a constant. Otherwise, it will vary with the amount of input. The dimension of sensitivity is the ratio of the dimensions of the output to the dimensions of the input. For example, for a displacement liquid level sensor, when the displacement changes by 1mm and the output voltage changes by 200mV, its sensitivity should be expressed as 200mV/mm. When the dimensions of the output and input of the liquid level sensor are the same, the sensitivity can be understood as the amplification factor. By increasing the sensitivity, higher measurement accuracy can be obtained. However, the higher the sensitivity, the narrower the measurement range, and the worse the stability.

The resolution of the liquid level sensor is the ability of the liquid level sensor to perceive the smallest change to be measured. That is, if the input changes slowly from some non-zero value. When the input change value does not exceed a certain value, the output of the liquid level sensor will not change, that is, the liquid level sensor cannot distinguish the change of this input value. The output changes only when the input changes beyond the resolution. In general, the resolution of each point of the liquid level sensor within the full range is not the same, so the maximum change value of the input that can make the output step change in the full range is often used as an index to measure the resolution.
